AI Is Becoming a Revenue Strategy. Is the Technology Channel Ready?
October 27, 2026 · Keith Pasley
For years, enterprises have justified AI investments through productivity improvements, automation, and cost reduction.
That conversation is expanding.
A recent Grit Daily article highlights how businesses are using AI to improve customer conversion, accelerate sales, and increase customer retention.
This has significant implications for technology resellers, VARs, ISVs, MSPs, and MSSPs.
Consider an enterprise that wants to increase customer revenue through AI.
The solution may require more than an AI application.
It could involve integrating customer data, connecting existing business applications, deploying AI agents, securing sensitive information, enforcing governance, and monitoring performance.
Each requirement creates an opportunity for a technology partner to deliver measurable value.
A reseller can provide the infrastructure and integration. An ISV can embed intelligence into business applications. An MSP can operate the solution. An MSSP can protect the environment and enforce security policies.
But there is a larger opportunity.
Technology partners can build repeatable AI services around specific business outcomes.
For example, a partner could offer a customer revenue optimization assessment that identifies lost sales opportunities, evaluates existing workflows, and establishes the business case for AI.
That assessment could lead to integration, deployment, managed services, and ongoing optimization.
The commercial opportunity becomes more compelling when the customer can measure increased conversion, improved retention, or additional revenue.
My view: The next competitive advantage for technology partners will come from understanding how their customers make money, identifying where AI can improve those economics, and building profitable services around delivering those outcomes.
The question I would ask every technology partner:
Can you explain how your AI offering helps a customer generate revenue, and how your business gets paid to deliver and sustain that result?
Technology doesn’t create business value. Better decisions do.
